I'm sure everyone has heard about dought right now in East Africa. It is sad but preventable and that is why it is important for educated Africans to vote and participate in electing good leaders.Did you know that the Kenyan government spent about 878million (Enough to educate kenyan children in famine striken moyale for 8 years)on cars - Mercedes and the like??
Yesterday,I read an article in the newspaper where a lady from New Zealand offered to donate 24tonnes of DOG food to children affected by famine. Maybe she eats dog food but it is very offensive and ignorant to give someone dog food. That is why it is important to at least know other peoples cultures before make terrible ssumptions. Africa is not a 'wealthy' place but people have some level of respect for themselves.Instead of someone from far off ahh... offering to donate dog food; why can't those of us who are well of do something? After this incident I know that no one can help us but ourselves becuase no one really understands the situation but us. (How do you explain all the Mercedes e.t.c. we have, the surburbs, the slums and the hunger? )
