Last weekend.. Saturday December 4th 2004 has got to be one of the most talked about weekends in all of kenyan history.The party was one of the hugest ever with thousands of DJs, loads of people and ofcourse alcohol. Everyone said they were going to be there and everyone was. There were 16,200 people,70 policemen and 12 bounbcers.(Notice the irony)

The next morning, Newspapers reported that three people died and a dozen more were hospitalized.It seems they were crashed to death as impatient party-goers pushed and shoved at the gate.Many people lost their belongings (What do you expect when you pay Ksh250-about three dollars-for a huge event?) Now there is a lot of debate about who is responsible. Of course everyone blames the organisers. I don't, I think that everyone who went there was to blame + the organisers.

Children as young as 11 attended it and most of the revellers arrived already so high they couldn't walk. The bouncers didn't ask for ID as they should have and many parents allowed their children to go for an 18 and over event. Other people kept on going to the event even when they knew the place was so crowded one couldn't move.

It was supposed to be the experience of a lifetime and it sure was though not the way many expected it to be.

I just hope you think about what you do in your life because things are not always what they seem and may have huge consequences!
